What is Mom Style for Busy Moms on a Budget?
Mom Style for Busy Moms on a Budget is an on-going series on the blog. I typically have one post a week dedicated to sharing my outfits from the week including where I got each item and how much each item cost. It all started with my 31 Days of Pinterest-inspired Mom Style series. I enjoyed that series so much that I decided to make it a regular feature on the blog. I use Pinterest to find outfits that inspire me to recreate or adapt them from pieces in my wardrobe. Then I share my recreations.
Why did I start this series?
When I started separating my yoga pants into at-home and dressy yoga pants I knew it was time for an intervention. Yoga pants is not the fashion statement I wanted to be making in public. So I started this series as motivation to get dressed each day and as a way to hold myself accountable. I’ve heard from so many readers that my 31 Day series was inspiring and that inspired me to make it a regular blog series.
What is my clothing budget?
Limited. I started from scratch with my wardrobe. It had been years since I bought something other than casual comfortable clothing for myself. My closet was packed with clothes that didn’t fit- from pre-pregnancy all the way to maternity and postpartum items. I purged it all and started fresh. I spent a good chunk of change building up my basic wardrobe again but now I have a closet full of clothes that I love and want to wear. I’m in the process of figuring out a quarterly budget for myself to keep my shoe and scarf obsession in check.
Why do I call it mom style for busy moms on a budget?
I have 5 kids and a very busy life. I need outfits that I can throw together in a few minutes. I can’t stand at the closet for 30 minutes trying to figure out what to wear. This series is geared towards moms on a budget because I’m on a budget. I shop mainly at Old Navy, Gap, Target, J.Crew Factory, LOFT, Kohl’s, and Nordstrom sales. I find pieces I love in other places but those are my main go to stores.
What can you expect from this series?
You can expect to see outfits that range from classic to trendy. You can expect to see outfits that are easy to replicate and won’t bust your budget. You can expect to see casual and comfortable outfits that still look stylish. I hope you find inspiration.
