Hellooooooooooo Friends

It’s been a long time. Thank you for the emails and comments you sent worried about my family. We are fine. 2018 turned out to be an extremely stressful and hard year for our family and I am ready to see the end of it. I have missed writing and sharing. I struggled heavily with my mental health towards the end of summer, as I do nearly every year, but this year the struggle was really bad. I had to give myself permission to step back from sharing until I was in a better space. I’m still battling but I’m ready to write again.

I’ve had a few months to decide where I’m going with this little blog of mine. I lost a lot of the joy I used to get from blogging. It began to feel like a chore instead of being fun. So I’m shaking it up. My kids are getting older and the things they are okay with me sharing for the world to see are getting fewer and farther between. They are in charge of their own stories now and I don’t feel comfortable sharing their stories for them anymore.

So where do I go from here? I have spent the last couple of months pondering that very question. I’ve thought long and hard about what brings me joy now, what I’m excited to write about, and what my identity on the blog should be going forward. I love to read, I love to cook, I love to organize, and I love sharing those things. Going forward I will be sharing a lot of book reviews, delicious recipes, favorite books, organizational ideas, and some lifestyle things focused on myself. I won’t be sharing my kids or my family. If you’re a longtime reader who would like to follow our family I do have a private Instagram where I share all the pictures and stories. Please feel free to request to follow us there. I started a brand new Instagram for the blog if you’re interested in keeping up with the books and recipes I’ll be working on.

The blog will be under construction for a bit even though I plan to begin posting new content tomorrow. I’m sorting through past posts and working on creating new pages and updating existing ones. All the existing recipes, book reviews, lifestyle posts, and DIY posts will remain but the more personal ones about my kids will be removed. I’m ready for a fresh start and a new path. I’d love to have you join me on this new venture but if books and food aren’t your thing I get it. Thank you for reading along and I wish you nothing but the best.

Glad you are back and super excited for more book reviews! You have introduced me to so many good books and great authors. We read pretty much exactly the same stuff and if you recommend it I know I will like it. My only problem is I pretty much only get books from the library so my library sucks ๐Ÿ™ So I have a list of books I buy off google when I have enough google credits!

I have sooooooo many new books to share with you! I have a huge backlog of reviews to do! I feel you on the library issue. When we moved in May I had to switch libraries and the new one is not great. It only has about a quarter of the books my old library had. It hurts my heart. I’m borrowing more ebooks from the library now.

I’m glad to hear that everyone is safe. It’s great that you took the time that you needed. I will continue reading, I particularly enjoy your organization and DIY posts ๐Ÿ™‚ I would be interested in following your private instagram but completely understand if you would prefer for me not to. I began reading your blog back when you were writing about your experiences with the foster care system. I have never been a foster parent, but have worked with children within the system in various ways over the years. Take care!
