The Messier Side of Life

Life is messy. And when you have 5 kids, life can get really really messy. I never know exactly what messes I’m going to be cleaning up on any given day but I do know that I will be cleaning up something. After so many years of being a mom I think I’ve cleaned up pretty much anything you can possibly imagine. But there are definitely some messes that stick in my mind.

My Top 5 Messiest & Ickiest Moments

1. The Peanut Butter Fiasco- Do you know what happens when you leave a 6 year old in charge of making his own peanut butter sandwich? Well let me share with you just in case you have not yet made this error in judgement. You will be cleaning peanut butter off every single available surface in your kitchen, including but not limited to the ceiling, the walls, the windows, and even the toaster. And peanut butter is not easy to remove. It requires scrubbing….a lot of scrubbing. The dog tried to help with the clean up which is just gross. Thankfully I had Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to assist me.

2. The Potty Training Mishap- You’d think by the time the youngest is potty training I would be better at it. Unfortunately that’s not the case. There’s a lot going on in this house. I get busy and forget to remind Zoey to take a potty break which leads to incidents that require Clorox Disinfecting Spray to the rescue. Recently I had a momentary lapse in sanity, forgot to take Zoey to the potty, and I paid the price. I rounded the corner from the family room heading to the stairs and slipped in a wet spot. I landed flat on my rear in a puddle of something questionable. The question was answered when I saw Zoey standing in front of me with wet pants. Lesson learned. And Clorox Disinfecting Spray to the rescue.

3. The “I didn’t have a tissue” Disaster- What is it about boys and their boogers? I have boxes of tissues all over this house and yet a couple of weeks ago I still happened to find a booger art masterpiece on a wall in the playroom. At least I was the one who discovered it instead of the babysitter, or even worse, the grandma. Nobody wanted to claim ownership to the masterpiece but I have my suspicions. Luckily I also had Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.

4. The Dog Ate A Chicken Bone Horror- Did you know that leaving chicken bones in the top of an untied garbage bag is an invitation for the dog? Well, it is and the dog didn’t just stop with the chicken bones. He pulled apart the whole bag and had garbage from one end of my kitchen to the other. Let me assure you, that is not the scene you want to walk into in the morning when you are in a rush. At least I had Clorox Disinfecting Spray to help with the damage control.

5. The Shaken Soda Volcano- Teen boys are notorious pranksters and Ty is in a league all his own when it comes to pranks. We currently are under a soda ban in our house thanks to his latest prank, which involved a brand new bottle of soda and a whole lot of shaking. I had the misfortune of being the one to open the aforementioned bottle of shaken soda and it was not pretty. Soda was covering every inch of my kitchen- dripping from the ceiling, on top of the cabinets, inside the pantry…not to mention dripping off me. Thanks goodness Clorox Disinfecting Wipes made quick work of the sticky mess.

I use Clorox products for all the messes in my house. The best parts of our lives are those everyday moments – true, spontaneous and imperfect. So laugh about it and remember that one day you’ll think back on these moments fondly.

I love the convenience of Clorox wipes, but I’m too cheap to buy spray bleach so I make my own.
