I’ve been promising to reveal my family room redo for a few weeks now. Today it’s finally happening. I am done with the family room. All the finishing touches are in place and I can’t find anything else I want to tweak- something that makes Matt very happy indeed. He’s tired of living in a renovation zone.
You can see more of the Family Room Before Tour HERE if you missed it the first time or want a refresher. The color on the walls is a fairly dark khaki color and the dark leather furniture didn’t help to lighten up the room at all. The room is the exact same color as the day we moved into this house almost 8 years ago.
I didn’t originally plan to paint the room but after painting the breakfast nook and kitchen (reveals coming soon) the family room just looked so old and dark. I couldn’t help myself, I had to paint it. Go big or go home, right?
Are you ready for the reveal?
Totally different room, right? The walls are so much lighter and brighter. I shared the details on cost and where I found the decor pieces in a separate post. In this post I wanted to focus on what a difference adding some bright pops of color can make in a room. Let’s take a little tour, shall we?
All that work was so worth the result! I love this room. Gone is the dark cave-like feeling whenever I walked in this part of the house. Gone are the old lady flower valances over the french doors. No offense to old ladies but they just were not my style at all. Gone are all the dark accent pieces. It feels so good!
Details on the redo, including cost and where I found the decor items, can be found HERE.
