It’s Kitchen Tour time at Kelly’s Korner! The kitchen is not my favorite room in my house. There is so much I want to change in my kitchen and hopefully in the next couple of years I will be able to make some of the changes. Unfortunately I cannot change the size, which is really what needs changing. The kitchen is too small for a family of 7 and the pantry is way too small. But it works. For now.

HERE is my post from the last kitchen tour. And this is what my kitchen looked like last time.

This is my kitchen today:

The biggest change that I made since last time was the addition of the butcher block island from Ikea. I love it. In addition to adding the island, I changed all the hardware on the cabinets and drawers. Goodbye 1980’s brass, Hello brushed nickel! Instant update for under $50. I removed the ivy print valances left by the previous owner and added the Bon Appetit wall words over the sink window.

Some of the plans that we have for the next couple of years are to replace the counters with granite, add a tile backsplash, replace the sink and faucet with stainless steel, replace the appliances with stainless steel ones and hopefully get new cabinets or have the existing ones restained. What I really want to do is take out the cabinets and counter in between the fridge and the pantry. I want to expand the pantry and then add one of those really wide fridge/freezers in the remaining space. We’ll see if that’s in the budget when we start the work.

So that’s my kitchen, minus the clutter that is usually present. I cleaned just for you guys. Don’t you feel special? Of course, Matt will come home and think that I spent all day cleaning for him. That’s called a win/win situation, my friends. Ha!
